Driver cabin and driver desk: the “smart” evolution of SPII.
The driver cabin and the driver desk are more and more the place where an increasing number of rail vehicle control and supervision systems are concentrated.
Subsystems are usually provided by several vertical vendors while the integration is in charge of the vehicle builder.
SPII has decided to move forward and change this logic by aggregating inside the company the competence from several leader vendors in his market in order to offer not only separate components, but a complete package that is really integrated.
This is the “smart” evolution of SPII that gives the birth to a new generation of driver desk and driver cabin based on the integration of subsystems that interact with the vehicle intelligence trough a bus moving from the traditional multifilar connection to a single (or a redundant) line.
Key elements
Key elements of this mechatronic evolution of SPII are:
- the presence of a CAN interface on every subsystem;
- the presence of an MVB interface on selected subsystems;
- bidirection CAN‘MVB routine on selected subsystems;
SPII is now able to offer to its customers:
- preliminary ergonomic studies for driver desks and subsystems working in close relation with the customer;
- complete driver desk including resin shells, metallic structure and electro-mechanic and/ or mechatronic devices tested and fully cabled for simple plug-in installation;
- subsystems with integrated field bus and/or gateway to the vehicle logic.
Advantages for the customer
This new approach to the driver desk and the driver cab guarantees great advantages for the customer:
- real integration of different functions and direct management trough a bus connection;
- limited cabling with consequent reduced assembly time;
- increased flexibility, modularity, comfort and improved ergonomy;
- complete man-machine interface using new generation displays;
- the ability to have a standard communication protocol between the driver desk and the vehicle logic enabling the reuse in different projects.
The SPII smart evolution
As a result of its great expertise and innovation in this sector, SPII is able to offer a new generation of driver cabin and driver desk with these features:
- a real integration of electromechanic and electronic subsystem;
- single line and flexible connection;
- maximum driving comfort.
Integrated Driver Desk
- Preliminary study, ergonomics study, cone of view study in codesign with customer (3d modelling and cabin integration);
- driver desk building: metal frame and resin structure;
- full driver desks complete with electrical, electronic, mechanical and pneumatic devices for plug and play installation;
- integrated field bus (CANOpen, MVB, Ethernet) and field bus gateway function CANOpen-MVB, CANOpen-Ethernet.
